Georgia is the best short-haul trip out of the UAE, and it is not especially close. Three hours from Dubai puts you in a country with its own alphabet, an 8,000-year winemaking tradition, and the Greater Caucasus on the skyline — at a fraction of what a European city break costs. We build these trips constantly for clients who want somewhere genuinely foreign without a long flight.

The three Georgia packages we actually sell

Sample itinerary — the six-night shape

Day 1 · Arrive Tbilisi. Afternoon flight from Dubai, private transfer to the hotel. Dinner in the old town within walking distance — nothing ambitious on arrival day.

Day 2 · Tbilisi on foot. Narikala ridge first thing, down through Abanotubani for a private sulphur bath cabin, then the Sololaki balconies and the Dry Bridge market in the afternoon.

Day 3 · Tbilisi, deeper. The Chronicle of Georgia early for the light, then the galleries and the design district. Evening free — this is the day we deliberately leave open.

Day 4 · Drive to Kakheti. Two hours east into the wine country. Afternoon at a working estate, tasting from qvevri buried in the cellar floor, and a supra dinner that runs long.

Day 5 · Kakheti. Sighnaghi's walls in the morning, a second cellar in the afternoon, and the Alazani valley from the ridge at dusk.

Day 6 · Return to Tbilisi. Back via Bodbe, with a last afternoon for whatever you missed.

Day 7 · Fly home. Private transfer to the airport, three hours back to Dubai.

Where you'll stay

Tbilisi's hotel market is unusually good for the price. Stamba, in a converted Soviet publishing house, is the one design editors fly in for and the one we book most — vast rooms, a working atrium, and a restaurant that holds up. Paragraph and its peers cover the conventional five-star tier if you would rather have a spa and a pool than a conversation piece.

In Kakheti you stay on a working wine estate rather than in a hotel, which is the entire point of going. Rooms are simpler than Tbilisi; the cellar and the table are not.

When to go from the UAE

May and June give you green mountains, open passes and comfortable city temperatures. September and October give you the Kakheti harvest, which is the single best week to be in the country — the cellars are open, everyone is working, and the food is at its peak.

Both windows fall while Dubai is at or near its hottest, which is most of the reason our clients go. July and August are fine in Georgia but the mountains are busier. Winter is for skiing at Gudauri and for a very different, quieter Tbilisi.

Questions we get asked

How much does a Georgia package from Dubai cost?

From about AED 5,900 per person twin-share for four nights with flights, rising to roughly AED 13,500 for the eight-night itinerary with Kazbegi. Season moves the number more than anything else does.

Do UAE residents need a visa?

Many do not — Georgia's entry rules are among the most generous in the region. It depends on your passport nationality rather than on UAE residence alone, so we check every traveller in the party before booking rather than assuming.

Is Georgia good for families?

Yes, with the caveat that the Kazbegi drive is long and winding. Families usually do better with the six-night Tbilisi and Kakheti shape, swapping the mountain leg for a day trip to Mtskheta.

Can you do this as a long weekend?

Four nights works properly. Three is possible if you fly out Thursday evening and back Sunday night, but you will spend a meaningful share of it in transit.
